Many in-state recruits visited South Alabama for Junior Day last Saturday, and ALRecruiting caught up with some to see how the day went. We asked them how the visit went, and this is what each recruit had to say.
Jacob Bussey (LB) - Kingwood Christian School – “It was ok, but not the best. They were not as friendly as other colleges, and the coaches really didn’t talk to anyone. I guess they are recruiting me at linebacker.”
Dylan Cline (DE) – McCalla High School – “Great hospitality as soon as I walked in everyone was real nice and real glad we were there. The campus was nice. All of their football facilities were top of the line, and they had a scrimmage to watch at the end of the day.”
Michael Davis (ATH) - Geraldine High School – “It went pretty good. The facilities are great, and they really stress academics . They know what they are doing at South Alabama. They told me that I could play on either side of the ball if it came down to it.”
Jalen Harris (ATH) – Northview High School – “My visit to South Alabama went great. I got a chance to talk with some of the coaches and players. I also got a chance to tour the campus and to get an overall view of the program. I really enjoyed it.”
Walker Hays (DT/OL) - Vestavia Hills High School – “South was really great. The facilities are top notch, and I have a friend who is the LG (Drew Dearman) and he played at Vestavia. I met the offensive line coach, and he is a nice guy. I was very impressed with him. We watched their scrimmage, and their practice field was Great! I would love to visit South more and head over to their summer camp and I want to build a relationship with all of the coaches. They took us to their junior and senior housing which blew me away. It makes you feel like you are at home, which is a definite plus for me.”
Grant Horst (OL) – Spanish Fort High School – “Grant had a chance to meet Coach Clark, Coach Jones and Coach Vincent his previous high school coach. Impressed with the state of the art football complex and the new construction on campus. With addition of a new stadium on campus, I doubt you will find another Sunbelt program with more impressive offering.”
Jalen Samuel (OL) – Bryant High School – “I got a chance to meet and talk with head coach Joey Jones. I toured the football facilities, and everything was state-of-the-art. I also toured the Rec and academics center, and we watched a scrimmage game. I really enjoyed the hospitality and the atmosphere.”
Harry Stokes (OL) – American Christian Academy – “I went on a campus tour and we toured the weight room and the football complex . They had a team scrimmage that we watched. Afterwards, I met up with and talked to coach Jones and his wife.”
